ABOUT THE ARTIST
As a mixed media artist based in Kassel, Roya Dee creates modern art using different materials such as beads, glass, resin or other textures for a three-dimensional effect. She creates a fusion of abstract art and text, just like collage artworks where she’s mixing pop culture aspects or combining deep emotional thoughts with different kind of media.
Roya is an autodidact and mostly inspired by the beauty of nature and little moments of joy. Because of her high sensitivity Roya Dee has a sensitive and deep connection to emotions and her environment. Her artworks should bring the viewer in the present moment. They are an expression of beauty, change and transformation.
Through her work Roya invites the viewer to consider the beauty of emotions, change and growth to remind us that there is infinite potential in us even in the times when it doesn’t seem like that.
„Before I started being a full-time artist I worked in the fashion industry. When I started my fashion blog back in 2014, I had a different connection to fashion. Fashion and photography are two big passions of mine besides my love of creating art. Fashion is art and as artist you create, you design and pay attention to details in a different way. As a photographer you pay even more attention to details and see the world through a different lens. I love to work with different materials, channeling different perceptions and expression my deep emotions and thoughts. I love to catch beauty – there’s beauty in every present moment you just need to be attentive.“
